How to Safely Pop a Pimple without Getting Dark Marks

In no way do we recommend popping or squeezing your pimples. The action of popping a pimple often times cause more harm to the skin than good. Popping can transfer or spread more impurities to other areas of the face, pushing impurities further into the pores. When this happens, more blemishes may break out in the affected area.

Experts agree that the best solution to pimples leaving them alone - allowing the inflammation to take its natural course. All the while, treating the skin with tested products to eliminate blemishes. However, we recognize there are moments where the sight of pimples is not ideal.

It Might Not Be Ready

Before you consider removing that blemish, make sure it meets all the requirements necessary. If you fail to wait, you might cause more trauma to the skin - eventually resulting in dark marks or acne scarring. Here a few signs that your pimple is not ready to extract:

Redness. If the pimple contains redness in or around the formation, this could hint to a sign of infection and should not be extracted just yet.

No clear whitehead. The pimple should have a visible whitehead before removing it.

Cystic formation. Cystic acne is often a sign of infection. Removing cystic acne blemishes can cause inflammation to spread in other areas of the skin.

Newly appeared blemish. If the pimple is a newly formed breakout, avoid touching or popping the blemish.

Hot Towel Method

  • Step 1: Make sure to cleanse the face before beginning with our Exfoliating Cleanser.
  • Step 2: Grab a clean face towel and a bowl of hot water. Caution: The water should not be scolding hot, but warm enough to open your pores.
  • Step 3: Fold your towel in half, and dip it into the water.
  • Step 4: Gently press the towel to your targeted blemish until the towel loses heat. Once your towel has gone cold, it’s time to extract the pimple.
